It is amazing the cycle for how individuals
keep up with their dental hygiene. We
all hear and know that the dentist suggest we brush our teeth at least twice a
day. Most dentist will suggest we brush
our teeth after every meal to keep our teeth healthy and clean. I would imagine that this recommendation
changes from state to state and even doctor to doctor, but the general idea is
the same. I know this is not the
recommendation of other countries. I have notice on my travels across the world
that no one takes teeth as seriously as an American. To be honest the easiest way to tell if an
American is in the room is to look at their teeth. It sounds like a stereotype
but once I heard the racial slur that was directed at myself I realized the
stereotype had some truth to it.
In general Americans have better teeth care
then the average non American. It is a
general characteristic that has been brought to my attention and I have noticed
it. Does this information change
depending on the age of the individual. Do children who are told and directed
by the parents to brush their teeth constantly simply have better teeth as
children then when they are teanagers?
It is possible that teenagers brush their teeth less then when they are
children and also less then when they become adults. I would imagine a unique
bell curve would exist during the lifetime of an average adults teeth hygiene
It is most definitely possible that tooth
decay happens during more specific years do to care and also the ability for
the human body to create enamul.
Generally, during the middle years of 30 to 40’s the human is now unable
to replace tooth enamel. So this would
lead to a an interested graph of how teeth are maintained, and when and where
they are able to be strengthened and then when they decay the most. Without lots of empirical data it is most
likely that teeth are most highly maintained during a humans childhood years
and when they reach adulthood. The
period of instability generally takes place during the tween and teenage
years. This is due to maturity levels
and also will most likely variate due to the socioeconomic status of the
individual involved.
It is true and an unfortunate fact that lower
socioeconomic status correlates to a lower health status. This means that hygiene and dental health are
correlated to education levels and which leads to more dedication to ones
health. This is telling that education
on tooth health is going to be very important for educating in inner cities and
public schools that are performing the lowest. As always stay safe, and stay
educated and seek your healthcare providers help for all medical needs.
